What does it mean to be a ‘community space’? What do we lose when those spaces are left behind?

This piece, meant for groups of up to three audience members at a time, investigated the community and activism-oriented resources that once filled the University Organizing Center, a student-run building that fell into disarray following the COVID-19 pandemic. Using found notes, post-its, letters, records, and archives within the space, we devised a performance in which participants followed a visible paper trail throughout the building in order to come face-to-face firsthand with the forms of connection and gathering that once used the UOC as a home.
